Undercover 2010 wheels test

Our first encounter with Pro Undercover wheels was about year ago - thanks to TheConference and Przemek Madej, together with Basza and Petmen we got the chance to test new formula wheels which would have been the revolution in aggressive wheel manufacture.

Back than our impressions were really high but they didn't last long – the urethane was superb, the grip was great and they were incredibly fast, yet after some time it turned out that the product wasn't 100% perfect. The main problem was the core – we got feedback from many people who were disappointed too. After short venture with the most expensive wheels on the market, we got back to riding Eulogy.

During the summer`09 Przemek Madej was filming for his section in TheTrutnies DVD – TheConference hooked him up with the new version of the Pro Undercover wheels, which according to the producer eliminated the weak core problem. After 3 weeks of getting clips, finished with three huge gaps attempts together with Basza we checked closely Madej`s wheels – surprisingly the wheels held up very good, no decoring, no chunks – without hesitation I equipped my Valos with brand new set of Undercover - Demetrious George 09.

Now after few months riding them, I can point some of the difference between UC and my favs – Eulogy. First of all, their hardness. Even though the graphic on the wheel says 90a when comparing them to 90a Eulogies, they are much more softer. When riding them you get the feeling that they are totally down to the ground, absorbing all irregularities, during skating parks, street and whatever I haven't felt once that I'm loosing grip. The best thing was that the core still is intact for this day, the bearings don't rotate inside by themselves.

Pure joy while rolling them, feeling of great grip and durability convinced me that new Undercovers are simply the best deal on the market right now, and I can't imagine who or what could convince me to buy other wheels!

Rather big hype which accompanied the release of the second Undercover Pro series didn't convinced me first. But when I saw how good the wheel performed in Madej`s skates I wanted to give them another shot. I picked up the Jeph`s Howard model.

The main difference of course is the construction of the core, since the urethane was quite decent in the previous line. You won't believe how surprised I was when I first took off the wheels from the frame after 2 months. The bearings didn't fall out! It means that the core hold them tight just like first day! I was really happy about it, because with my weight finding durable wheel can be tough. There was no way that bearing could spin inside the wheel by itself – it was the main drawback of the previous wheels – it slowed you down dramatically or in the worst case heated the wheel which chunked few days after. Clear core seems to be more flexible, and you will notice the difference during the first minutes of skating. With few sizes to chose from (yes there are small sizes for all Flat fans) and flashy colors you can easily find the ones that matches your skating style and your skates.

To wrap things up – I can honestly say that for the first time Eulogy have the proper competition. New Undercovers bring new quality to the table, no question!

The newest line of Pro wheels from Undercover is a total revolution in wheel manufacture. Besides cool colors, great speed (thanks to big sizes) and really good profile. By saying 'revolution' I meant factor which distinguishes new Undercovers from the rest – durability. When I got the samples of previous UC pro wheels, I thought that finally someone produced a wheel which will hold up more than a few weeks of intense street skating on polish sidewalks. However the urathane was top notch, the core didn't performed so well. In the current series the core is made of this strong material resembling hard rubber. After three months of skating Jeph Howard`s model I'm sure that they are the most solid wheel on the market!
