GC Formula 1 Frame review by Mihai Militaru

Soon after the GC Formula 1 frames were released, I asked for a pair of these frames, to try them out.  I fell in love with them immediately!!! Well,  that doesn't sound very convincing to you, so let me explain why do I love these frames.

If I remember well, the first time I was skating them on some USD Classic Throne setup with one grey and one black boot. It's been a long time since then, but I remember very well that I was skating 3 pairs of skates, from USD classic throne boot, to Xsjado, to Razors SL boot, and all of them with GC F1 and freestyle blocks.  In the meantime I tried the OG frames, which I really tried to give a chance, considering that I love the way you can customize them, but they disappointed me.

I`m mostly a street skater, and I have to tell you that I love to skate all the stupid shit that I find along the way. I'm the type that sees a small ledge or some rocks on a monument, and wants to skate them.  Most of you are familiar with the term of "being creative". Well, this word is a bit too much for me. Or if you tell me that I'm creative, first thing that comes to my mind is not rollerblading, it must be something else. Let's just say I'd rather connect this to my style and way of skating, together with my constant need to connect the tricks in a line.

One other thing I must tell you is that these frames are not for beginners. If you are a beginner, you need a frame that will help you to lock onto your tricks. While this one, having a huge h-block, is less stable in a royale/fulltorque position, allowing you to make switch-ups much easier. It helps you to spin easily from a Bs torque to Makio etc. Having this on your side, it becomes easier to do something like a 270 Bs backslide to Sweastance. But tricks actually depend on you, kids! Skates, frames, wheels and all the rest are just the tool that help you to get things done!

I don't want to talk about the material as being the best material and super fast and all this jazz. Thing is I really don't know. All the frames are sliding fast in my opinion. To be honest, 7-8 years ago, when you were going down a kink rail, you had less speed than today.  In present, the improvement of the materials from witch skates and frames are made are making them perfect for skating flat obstacles, but bit too fast for kink rails or steep stuff. I guess you win some, you loose some. Just like flex on a skate:  a flexible skate is perfect and is preferred by many people, but when it comes to do a gap, flex is the last thing you wish to have on a skate..

In conclusion, these frames allow me to express myself the best while skating.
One more important thing about the frames: you can easily change from freestyle blocks to flat blocks , and you'll have a completely different frame for a very cheap price!
